Boat show season is here, and you can’t tie up your own boat at the show. Here’s what public marinas from Fort Lauderdale to Key West charge for a night, using their own published rates, plus a quick way to do the math for your boat.
How dock pricing works
Almost every marina charges by the foot, per night. Take your boat’s length, multiply it by the rate, and you have your nightly dock fee. Tax, electricity and other fees come on top. Some marinas also bill a minimum length, so a small boat can pay for more feet than it has. Ask when you book.
Fort Lauderdale
- Marina Bay (Marina Mile, State Road 84 and I-95): short stays run $2.80 a foot per day for boats 40 to 45 feet, up to $4.70 for 121 to 150 feet. Rates are per foot per day plus tax and electric, and the marina’s winter season runs Oct 1 to May 31. Marina Bay rates
- City of Fort Lauderdale, New River/Downtown docks: 100 slips along the Riverwalk, just off Las Olas Boulevard, first come, first served. The city’s new rates took effect Oct 1, 2026, but they weren’t posted online when we checked, so call (954) 828-4626 before you go. City marine facilities
- Boat show week: the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show runs Oct 28 to Nov 1, 2026, across six locations around town. Its FAQ says personal boats can’t dock at the show, so if you’re arriving by water, book a slip nearby early. Show FAQ
Miami
- City of Miami marinas (Dinner Key, Miamarina at Bayside, Marine Stadium): $7 a foot per day for short stays, or $52 a foot per month. Dinner Key and Miamarina also offer a 3-hour stop for $2 a foot during marina hours (minimum boat lengths apply). City of Miami marina rates
- Miami-Dade County marinas: $2.45 to $3.15 a foot per day, depending on the marina and your boat’s length. For example, Bill Bird Marina in North Miami charges $2.65 for boats up to 39 feet, $2.75 for 40 to 49 feet and $2.95 for 60 feet and up. Prices are before tax. Call the marina to check availability. Key West
- Key West Bight Marina (city-run): $5.15 a foot per day for boats under 60 feet from Oct 1 to May 31, and $6.20 for 60 feet and up all year. Special event weeks (Fantasy Fest, the holidays and others) are $8 a foot or more. There’s a $10 utility fee plus metered power, and a 2.25% fee on card payments. Key West Bight dockage
What one night costs a 40-foot boat
Dock fee only, before tax and power, at the published rates above:
- Miami-Dade’s Bill Bird Marina: about $110 (40 × $2.75)
- Marina Bay, Fort Lauderdale: about $112 (40 × $2.80)
- Key West Bight: about $206 (40 × $5.15)
- City of Miami marinas: about $280 (40 × $7.00)
Same boat, same night, and the price more than doubles depending on where you tie up. Rates change, so always confirm with the marina.
Before you book
- Have your boat’s length, beam (width) and draft (how deep it sits) ready. A slip has to fit all three, not just the length.
- Ask what’s included: power, water, Wi-Fi, parking, pump-out.
- Many marinas require proof of insurance (Marina Bay does).
